Description:

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, geo-technical reports, alta surveys, topographic surveys, and other topographical and geologic data to plan projects
  • Detail portions of projects using schematic or conceptual layouts
  • May assume the lead engineer’s role on assigned projects
  • Preparation of design drawings and specifications with a focus on site layout, grading, paving, stormwater management, utilities, and erosion control for a variety of site engineering projects
  • Preparing construction cost estimates
  • Coordinating and preparing permitting documents for regulatory agencies
  • Perform field activities such as observe and record existing field conditions, take and verify measurements within project area
  • Ensure that on-site construction work is carried out according to local regulations and requirements
  • Coordinating with other internal team members on multi-discipline projects, which often includes architects, electrical, mechanical and structural engineers
  • Research design options and document findings for project lead engineer
  • Resolve design and development problems
  • Provide conceptual drawings and sketches to incorporate in final drawings by Designers/Drafters
  • Perform and document technical design reviews with other disciplines on the project team to produce the highest level of quality
  • Capable and experienced in managing and performing projects in a fast paced environment
  • Time manage and prioritize tasks to achieve results within cost and schedule constraints
  • Responsible for quality and delivery of construction documentation
  • Interface with clients, vendors, architects, construction administrators and project team

Requirements:

  • B.S. Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 6 years experience in civil, site, and subdivision engineering and design field
  • Licensed Professional Engineer or willing to obtain within 6 months
  • 6 years experience in Civil Engineering design and civil drafting practices and procedures
  • Proven proficiency with AutoCAD current Software Release
  • Experience working with multi-discipline teams  
  • Working knowledge of Civil 3D
  • Familiar with local zoning and platting processes and regulations
  • Ability to maintain an overview of projects while continuing to attend to details
  • Ability to think methodically, to design, plan and manage projects
  • Knowledge of building codes and NFPA standards
  • Sound mathematical and technical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients & in-house staff
  • Demonstrated independent worker requiring minimal direction
  • Negotiating, supervisory, and leadership skills combined with the ability to delegate
