It is the responsibility of the CAD Designer to understand the scope of all project assignments assigned to him/her and the drafting/design team, recognize and react to any changes in scope that occur and finish assignments within budgeted hours and on schedule.

Education, Training, Experience

  1. Required: Minimum of High School Diploma, Bachelors degree in a science or math discipline preferred.  
  2. Associates Degree in Drafting/Design Technology.
  3. Five (5) years in an Engineering environment working in a Design capacity.
  4. Experienced CAD Designer.
  5. Desire experience with Plant 4-D. 

Essential Job Functions

  1. Communicate effectively with the Project Manager to clearly understand the expectations that exist for him/her and the drafting/design team.
  2. Work with Project Managers to assure that assignments meet delivery schedules.
  3. Will communicate closely with Project Manager to keep work out ahead of drafting/design team.
  4. Effectively use engineering sketches and field data to complete assigned task.
  5. Work with Project Managers and Engineers to assure we stay within the budgeted hours.
  6. May lead others in the preparation of detailed design plans.
  7. Drawing reproduction, filing, and record keeping.
  8. Estimate hours involved with each assignment.
  9. Draw plans and elevations of equipment and structures required by Project Manager.
  10. Draw piping plans and details as prepared by Project Manager.
  11. Verify that drafting standards meet client requirements.
  12. Utilize knowledge of various engineering discipline to prepare detailed design drawings.
  13. Provide drafting services as required by the project.

  

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:         

  1. Must possess excellent 3d design skills, with the ability to read and understand P&ID and PFD's.
  2. Must have strong AutoCAD drafting software skills.
  3. Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  4. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
  5. Must be detail oriented and timely.
  6. Need advanced mathematic skills required to function in an engineering environment.
  7. Must be able to understand the scope of projects he will be assigning people to. 
  8. Must be computer literate.
  9. Ability to use roughs engineering sketches, field data, and notes to prepare detailed design drawings.
